In honor of School Psychology Awareness Week, I am answering the questions:
Who are school psychologists? School psychologists are educators that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, development, learning, and behavior to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
What do school psychologists do?
School psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students, consult with teachers and families to improve support strategies, work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services.
As a school psychologist at Education and Testing Solutions, I conduct consultations with parents regarding their child’s learning, developmental, and/or behavior, conduct psychoeducational evaluations, provide direct interventions for learning and reading, provide tutoring for all grades and subjects including SAT/ACT prep, and collaborate with parents and teachers for student success.
