I just did something amazing. Well, it wasn’t me, actually. It was AI (artificial intelligence). To be honest, I have been leary of AI and do not really understand it. Until recently, I have been hesitant to use it at all. But I came across a blog discussing resources for ADHD students and learned of an app called Coconote (I am not getting any royalties here, fyi) and I tried it! I was blown away!
Let me back up for a moment. For years, I have taught students note-taking and study skills. For college students, I have often recommended that they record a lecture so they can re-listen to it, or at least parts of it as needed, to make sure their notes are complete, etc. I have often suggested that they re-write their notes as soon as possible after the lecture to organize them into an outline, fill in missing information, and make note of questions they may have for the professor for the next lecture.
This morning, I tried the Coconote app. I gave a quick 10-minute lecture on IQ Testing that Coconote recorded. Immediately after the lecture, the app was able to give me an organized outline of my notes, created flashcards (similar looking to Quizlet), and created a quiz for me to review the information! It was A-MAZ-ING!
There may be other apps out there that do similar tasks. You may want to check them out. And one caveat, it would be respectful to ask your professor or teacher if they mind you recording the lecture. But for many of my clients who struggle with attention, organization, and studying, this technology could be a total game-changer!
